More recently, James has composed the music for a Christmas song entitled "Ring! Ring!" with the words supplied by Ken Shaw for the Churchdown Male Voice Choir. This was heard in their 2013 Christmas concerts on the 16th, 17th and 18th of December.

As for 2014, James has been sought by the Innsworth Military Wives Choir to arrange new pieces for their repertoire. These include "Somewhere We Only Know", "Men of Gloucester" and was sought to arrange a new piece "Time To Come Home" for the Foundation of Military Wives Choirs. Most recently, James has worked in collaboration with Gita Wymer a new Christmas song, "Sing Hallelujah" for the Military Wives Federation, as well as an arrangement of "A Night Like This", a song made popular by Caro Emerald.

James recently composed a piano piece, "Con grazia" which he dedicated to all in the NHS, Social, Care and Key workers for all that they have been doing during the ongoing situation of Covid-19. You can see this on his YouTube channel. He also written a short work for piano which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Chethams International Piano Summer School.
